A day with de'roach

My nemesis is de'cockroach. I hate that I can never hit them. I get all jittery and squeky and screamy. And I just break in the midst of a roach.

Just today, I encountered one and the incident took a funny turn. I was walking towards a classroom when suddenly, a Form 4 boy came running from the opposite direction screaming 'Cockroach'. Naturally, I stopped, took 5 steps back, froze and asked, "Where?". It was coming towards us. And I guess it heard our scream, it ran into hiding behind the shoe cabinet.

The young man was determined, but scared, lugged a heavy stick along and swore to get it destroyed. I stood about 7 feet away from him and looked on as he pulled the shoe cabinet out. Another colleague of mine stood next to the shoe cabinet, puzzled by the whole commotion. As my student pulled the shoe cabinet out, my colleague reached in between the wall and the cabinet and said, "Look" and that sent us sprinting 10 feet away. But it was just a card that he pulled out.

That isn't the funniest part yet. The Form 4 boy, still determined, resumed his position and pulled the next shoe cabinet out. This time de'cockroach came out of it and again it sent out sprinting away. Just that there was more squeals. My colleague who was nearby tried catching it with his bare hands. As he tried catching it, we continued squealing. I asked my student to hit it with the stick he was holding, he didn't. Well, I guess we all break in the midst of a roach. Any roach.

To cut the long story short. The cockroach was short-lived.

And so, once again we live happily every after.
